BURN THE TAPE: Mighty Ducks Episode 6
Congratulations you're having sextuplets! They are all named Emilio Estevez
Time for another episode of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. I apologize for not being more excited about this show, but it feels like a chore at this point. I looked up how many episodes there still are and there are apparently 10 in total? We’re only on 6! I still have five more including today! This is a hate crime. You may as well just yelled “Fuck Syrians” at me. I’m telling Sami Zayn.
Oh yeah, and my sister’s ex-boyfriend has yet to notice blah blah blah.
Let’s recap: The Ducks are a powerhouse but rude, I think Evan’s mom, Alex, and Emilio Estevez are gonna fuck at some point, the Don’t Bothers won their first game last episode. The episode ended with the Ducks coach wanting to talk to Evan because he had a good game.
Episode 6: Spirit of the Ducks
One of the Ducks got injured and the Ducks coach, the guy from Letterkenny, wants Evan to join. He’s trying to manipulate Evan to join the team by saying he could get a full-ride scholarship (I think he’s lying). He said, “I know the hardships of being a single mom. I’ve dated plenty of them,” lol. Anyways I don’t like that he’s trying to manipulate a 12-year-old kid. Gaslight much!? Wow, what is this, a girl boss?
Some guy named Fulton accidentally smashed Emilio Estevez’s car window. I think this is supposed to be a call back to the original Mighty Ducks because he’s calling him coach but I do not remember this at all, sorry. Congratulations to you if you’re excited because you remember the original Mighty Ducks.
There’s apparently some 25th-year Anniversary Gala for the Ducks called Spirit of the Ducks. I don’t think Emilio got invited, awkward.
Two new kids heard about the Don’t Bothers and want to join. They don’t speak English as they’re from the Czech Republic. Nick already has an excellent nickname for them.
Very good, Nick.
Alex finds out that Emilio Estevez actually didn’t get invited. She is upset! I mean she has a right to be, the team wouldn’t have existed without him. That’s like honouring the Jonas Brothers without inviting Nick. However, it is NOT the same as honouring the Jonas Brothers without inviting Kevin.
Evan joins practice with the Ducks. Ugh, this coach from Letterkenny is really annoying and he has an extremely punchable face. Like yeah, I’d still fuck him, but that doesn’t mean anything really. Oh no, one girl is filming Evan’s moves, I think we know what will happen! She’s going to post it somewhere and the Don’t Bothers will see, in case you didn’t know what will happen. I think, at least.
Emilio Estevez met up with some of the old Ducks players that he coached since they’re all in town for the Gala. I think these are the original actors but again, I have NO idea? I could not tell you at all. They all want Emilio to go to the Gala and he just says he doesn’t want to go (he didn’t get invited) to avoid embarrassment. Now they’re all mad at him for some reason.
Evan shows up to the Spirit of the Gala to tell the coach he’s out of the Ducks because the Don’t Bothers are actually his friends. Evan told the former Ducks that Emilio Estevez wasn’t invited to the Gala, they all show up in a limo at the rink and drive on the ice to get him??? This sounds extremely dangerous, how’d they even fit the limo in the building? I guess the same way they fit a Dodge Ram Truck in the Saddledome.
They all show up at the Gala together. The former players tell off the people there, love it.
The next day it’s practice and Emilio Estevez brings the former players in their original Ducks jerseys. Nostalgia alert! Emilio asks Alex if the assistant coach position is still open. Wow, who could have seen this coming except for literally everyone?
The Don’t Bothers see the video of Evan practicing with the Ducks, apparently, that girl just posted it. Hell yeah, I finally called something right. This is definitely the Letterkenny coach’s doing. After Evan told him he didn’t want to join the Ducks, he told the rest of the team to “put a bounty on Evan’s head.” A super normal thing to say about a 12-year-old. Another girl boss moment. The rest of the team is rightfully upset.
Recap/thoughts
It was a nice episode. There were some feel-good moments, albeit a bit predictable, but I understand this show is also directed at children who are not as smart as me. But it ended with drama! Ooooooh!
Still waiting for Alex and Emilio to fuck. That’s all I have this week, I have no other thoughts about this episode. I’m tired of this show to be quite honest.
