We’re back for another episode of The Mighty Ducks! My sister’s ex-boyfriend still hasn’t noticed I’m using his account, so we’re in the clear. This is also after a Flames loss and I’m hungry so forgive me if I’m not SUPER optimistic here. Whatever, I don’t care.
30 minutes later Ramz: I told you I wouldn’t be optimistic, look what Grammarly said I sound like:
Thank you, Grammarly.
Let’s do a quick recap of the last episode:
Some kid named Evan was told by his coach for the team The Ducks that he shouldn’t bother playing hockey because he sucks, his mom Alex decided to help him create a team of “Don’t Bothers”, and we met Emilio Estevez aka Gordon Bombay. That’s all that really mattered, right? Let’s get on with this episode.
Episode 2: Dusters
Alex is the coach and wants to play an ice-breaker game for their first practice. I think it’s a great idea, but the kids don’t seem to like it. Rude. Oh cool, Nick was raised by two moms, that’s the only interesting thing we learned in this ice-breaker game.
I feel foreshadowing that Alex is going to get fired from her job at some point for some reason. I don’t know why. But again I was extremely off on everything last episode, so maybe not.
They’re now having their practice on ice but using beach balls. Evan is not on board with his mom’s coaching, but the rest of the kids seem to be having fun. Alex is giving all the kids fake awards a few days before their first game to help them feel good. Evan is again not on board and he’s upset and they are arguing.
Alex goes to the Ice Palace that night because she’s upset and sees Emilio Estevez playing by himself and he’s very good. Shocker! Throughout this episode, Alex and Evan kept going to him about their issues and he did not care because he does not care about hockey, he makes it VERY clear.
Emilio Estevez has gotten worse at acting (in my opinion, don’t come for me please).
The team sneaks (sort of) into where the Ducks play and raid their lost and found to get some equipment since they’re low. Ok uhhhhhhhh this next part is extremely weird. So, this was their plan: Evan goes and tells the lady at the front desk (who is in what appears to be her fifties by the way) that he lost his helmet so she can go unlock the lost and found for him. Then Logan (the kid who looks like Nylander at 12 years old) is supposed to go distract her while the rest of the team sneaks into the lost and found too since it’s now unlocked. And Logan does that and it works????? This lady is flattered and distracted by a 12-year-old?? Is nobody else weirded out by this?
They’re all being very loud in the lost and found. It’s extremely close to the front desk, she should definitely be able to hear them. Thank goodness for the charming 12-year-old! Evan found his old lucky stick that he lost two years ago. They all take a bunch of stuff and were extremely successful in their endeavours, all because that woman was a predator. Great!
They’re about to play their first game and Alex is giving them a pep talk. She also got them all custom-made jerseys with their names and numbers and also a logo was created I guess? This would have easily cost her at least $1000.
The other team scores literally immediately. This team is very bad. One player checked one of the Don’t Bothers and Alex called for the ref to arrest someone. I totally agree. It’s now 9-0 for the other team in the second period. Am I watching a Flyers game or something?
Emilio Estevez is watching them get slaughtered. I think we know what’s coming!!! He’s going to finish coaching for the game!!! Or maybe not, I actually don’t know, he may just let them get completely owned which would objectively be better.
Hahaha, he let them get owned. They lost 12-0. Alex was even booing the other team as they skated by, great coaching tactic, Darryl Sutter should incorporate that. Evan is upset and goes out onto the ice after to skate by himself. Ok, NOW I think Emilio Estevez will come out. Oh, the team just followed him out instead, nevermind again.
Emilio is watching and has a smile on his face, I think he’s going to come out too!!!!!!
Nevermind, that was the end of the episode. Ok, I think he’ll definitely come out to coach next episode though. Maybe, who actually even knows.
Recap/thoughts
This episode was a little boring, to be honest. I feel like nothing really happened? The first half was a bunch of nothing. I could have left out half of what I said and it would not have mattered one bit. The only thing that happened what that they played their first game which lasted like two minutes of the episode. Oh, and we saw some predatory 50-year-old woman. That’s it.
I think we’ll definitely see Emilio feel bad and start helping next episode. There’s a sneak peek available for the next episode but I’m deciding not to watch it because I want to be wrong yet again next week in this.
Let’s hope next week has more action I guess and no more weird 50-year-olds flirting with 12-year-olds. This episode was lame, it was NOT worth remaining hungry for.
